Learn how to make the juiciest Air Fryer Chicken Breast recipe in 25 minutes. It is easy, tender and bursting with flavor!

And for last minute dinner, here is how to cook frozen chicken breast in air fryer.

Close up for air fryer chicken breast sliced on a plate with garnish.

Time for juicy air fryer chicken breast because we love chicken breast recipes around here! And we do not settle on dry and flavorless chicken.

I’ve already perfected recipes for grilled chicken breast, oven baked chicken breast, Instant Pot chicken breast and crock pot chicken breast. Now it’s time to perfect it in my latest gadget.

Cooking chicken breast in air fryer results in juicy, tender chicken breast with a light, flavorful crust and tender, moist middle. Every single time!

My love for air fryer recipes began with crispy air fryer chicken wings, air fryer chicken tenders and juicy air fryer chicken drumsticks. Today we are making perfectly cooked air fryer chicken breasts!

Why You Will Love This Recipe

  • It’s quick: You can have air fryer chicken breast on the table in about 25 minutes.
  • Super easy: This chicken recipe is more economical due to short cooking time and small appliance.
  • The oil amount is minimal: Just enough to help the seasonings adhere and lock in the juices.
  • Failproof results: You’ll get wonderfully tender, juicy and moist chicken breast every single time!
  • You don’t have to brine chicken breasts in salt water!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Chicken Breast

One of the best things about this air fryer chicken breast recipe is that it is so simple and made up of entirely clean ingredients and pantry staples. You only need 6 basic ingredients.

  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts: I use 8 – 9 ounces and around 2-inches thickness breasts. If your chicken breasts are larger or smaller, you may need to adjust the cook time. Please see below.
  • Oil of choice: I use avocado oil or olive oil.
  • Seasonings: I use a simple combination of onion powder, garlic powder, dried oregano, and smoked paprika. And salt and pepper.

Recipe Tip

Want a different spice blend? You can swap out the seasonings I’ve suggested with Italian seasoning, cajun spice, all-purpose spice or taco seasoning. For heat, add a little cayenne pepper or chili powder to the dry rub.

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Breast

Here is a quick overview how to make air fryer chicken breasts. There is full recipe card below.

  • Preheat the air fryer and prep chicken: Preheat it to 380 degrees F for 5 minutes. Add chicken breasts to a bowl and drizzle with oil. Then rub using your hands or toss with tongs to coat.
  • Rub chicken with seasonings: Add the spice blend, salt and pepper, and then rub chicken breasts to make sure all sides of the chicken are evenly coated.
  • Air fry chicken breast: Spray the basket of air fryer with cooking spray, place chicken breasts in air fryer in a single layer and cook chicken for 16 minutes. No need to flip chicken breasts or shake the basket.
  • Check the temperature: Open and insert meat thermometer into the thickest part of your air fryer chicken breasts to make sure it has reached at least 150 degrees F.

How Long to Cook Chicken Breast in Air Fryer?

Size Changes Everything

How long to cook chicken breast in air fryer depends on the size of your chicken breasts. For average-sized chicken breast that’s around 2-inches thick, I recommend between 16-18 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the chicken breast reaches 150 degrees F.

Here is a handy timetable for quick reference:

SizeWeightCook Time
Small Chicken Breasts5 to 7 ounces14 minutes
Medium Chicken Breasts8 to 9 ounces16 minutes
Large Chicken Breasts10 ounces or more18 minutes

Let It Rest

Make sure to allow air fryer chicken breasts to rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute and chicken to finish cooking.

As per food safety website, to be safe to eat, chicken must reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. However, there’s no need to cook chicken breasts in air fryer until that point.

I recommend cooking the chicken until it’s 150 degrees F and the residual heat will then continue to increase the internal temperature while the chicken rests.

You get to avoid dry, overcooked chicken. It is my secret to juicy and not dry air fryer chicken breasts.

Air Fryer Chicken Breasts Came Out Undercooked

Thought you had the right time but your air fryer chicken breast came out undercooked? After checking with the instant read thermometer, if you see temperature is below 150 degrees F, cook the chicken breasts for extra 2 minutes.

It sure is a delicate balance and figuring out the cooking time based on size, your air fryer and personal preferences. It is a matter of practice.

Tips for Best Results

For the best air fryer chicken breast follow the below tips!

  • No need to brine: Dry rub and optimal cooking temperature and method, will take care of juicy chicken breasts.
  • Size matters: I recommend to pick the same size chicken breasts for even cooking when shopping. Also know the weight of each piece to select correct cooking time.
  • Cook in a single layer: The hot air needs to circulate the chicken to get the job done. Overlapping or stacking chicken breasts in air fryer is not recommended.
  • There’s no need to shake the basket: While flipping chicken can help to yield crispier results, this dry rub chicken breast isn’t intended to be super crispy. So leaving it alone will help avoid dry chicken.
  • Allow it to rest: Once cooked, transfer the air fried chicken breast to a large foil covered platter and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to settle and redistribute.

FAQs

What type of air fryer can I use?

Over the years I have tried a few air fryers. There is a basket style air fryer, toaster oven air fryer and a lid attachment for an Instant Pot. They all work great and choice will depend on personal preference.

Are you cooking for 2 or 4 people? Do you have space for another appliance? Are you busy? Take these things into consideration when shopping.

I use a large 5.8 quart Cosori air fryer. I cook for 4 people. I say the biggest concern I hear is that air fryer is too small. The attachment lid or small basket would fit maximum 2 chicken breasts in air fryer and you would have to air fry chicken in batches. You can always pop it back in for a minute to reheat the first batch.

Also when air frying food, it needs some space in between to ensure roasted results we all crave from the air fryer.

Is it okay to use raw chicken with an air fryer?

Of course, you can cook raw meat in the air fryer. Just thoroughly wash your air fryer basket with hot soapy water between uses.

Do I have to brine air fryer chicken breast?

No, there is no need to use the brine when you air fry chicken breast. I can guarantee you will have juicy results and save a lot of time with this recipe!

Do you have to flip chicken breasts in air fryer?

No, there is no need to flip chicken breasts in air fryer. Thanks to the design of air fryer, hot air circulates on top and on the bottom of food, cooking it evenly. Plus we will be serving the breasts same side down anyways.

Is air fried food good for you?

Making air fryer chicken breast means cooking with less oil. In my nutrition course, I learnt that healthy fats are good for you, in moderation. That’s why I love to use avocado oil in cooking. It also has a high smoke point.

Air frying foods means using even less oil. So, yes, air fried food is good for you. This is especially the case with fried chicken, where you can get amazingly crispy results with just a fraction of the oil!

What to Serve Air Fryer Chicken Breast With?

After resting, the air fryer chicken breast is ready to serve. I recommend slicing it against the grain.

Use this air fryer chicken breast recipe for weekly meal prep. I love it for lunch with simple spring mix salad! Or turn it into one of easy healthy dinner ideas for family serving with:

Variations

Once you have the basic air fryer chicken breast method down, then you can experiment with different spices, marinades, and more.

  • Sauces: Try it with Thai chili sauce or healthy BBQ sauce.
  • Fresh garlic: If you have a little extra time, feel free to use fresh grated or minced garlic over the chicken breasts like I do in air fryer lamb chops!
  • Add vegetables: If you have enough space in the basket, you can add some veggies directly in with the chicken breasts to cook simultaneously. You could include zucchini, brussel sprouts, red peppers, broccoli and asparagus.
  • For even juicier results: You can marinate the chicken breasts using one of these 5 chicken marinades. When marinated, place the chicken breasts straight into the air fryer basket and cook. There’ll be a little more “cleanup” afterward of the basket but otherwise it couldn’t be more simple.

How to Store and Reheat

Make ahead: After rubbing the chicken breasts with spices, you can allow them to sit covered in the refrigerator overnight for up to 12 hours before cooking.

Storing: Refrigerate leftover air fryer chicken breast in an airtight container for easy meal prep for up to 1 week. Make sure to move it to the refrigerator within 2 hours for food safety and keep it whole for the juiciest results.

Freeze: Cool completely before transferring the chicken breasts to a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. I recommend slicing or shredding the chicken breasts before freezing. That way, it’ll thaw faster and can be added to meals immediately.

You can thaw them overnight in the refrigerator before eating or reheating.

Reheat: I recommend to do so either in air fryer or a pot. Here is how to reheat chicken breast in air fryer.

Or reheat air fryer chicken breast in a lidded pot with a splash of water or broth to steam them until warm. This will keep the chicken tender and moist compared to trying to reheat them in the oven.

Ingredients You Will Need

Air fryer asparagus recipe ingredients are so simple! All you need is just fresh asparagus and pantry spices to cook asparagus in air fryer any time!

Olive oil, garlic powder, asparagus, salt and pepper.
  • Asparagus: I prefer thicker asparagus spears because they come out more crunchy. But use what you can find at your grocery store.
  • Oil: Extra virgin olive oil is my favorite but any neutral cooking oil like avocado oil will work.
  • Seasonings: You can use either freshly grated garlic or garlic powder, depending on time. Plus salt and ground black pepper.

How to Cook Asparagus in Air Fryer

Here is a quick overview how to cook asparagus in air fryer. All you have to do is just trim, season and air fry. Air fryer asparagus recipe is really quick and easy!

Step by step process how to cook asparagus in the air fryer.
  • Trim the asparagus: Snap the woody end off of one spear, it will snap off in the correct place naturally. Then use a sharp knife to cut other asparagus stalks to the same length.
  • Add oil: Transfer the asparagus to a large bowl, drizzle with oil and toss to coat.
  • Add seasonings: Add fresh garlic or garlic powder, salt, pepper and toss gently more.
  • Air fry the asparagus: Transfer the asparagus to your air fryer basket in a single layer, with space in between. Air fry asparagus at 400 degrees F for 5-7 minutes, depending on how thick the spears are.

How Long to Cook Asparagus in the Air Fryer?

  • Lemon: Squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the asparagus before serving for a zingy, bright flavor. You can also add a small amount of lemon zest.

  • Parmesan cheese: Add 1-2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese after air frying the asparagus.
  • Fresh herbs: Several herbs pair wonderfully with asparagus, including fresh parsley, fresh basil, chives, or fresh dill.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Asparagus?

To say that this air fryer roasted asparagus is versatile would be an understatement. It’s an excellent addition to salads, quiche and here are some top recommendations to serve it as a side dish.

How to Store and Reheat

Chances are you will not have leftovers! Here is how to store this air fryer asparagus recipe if you do, though.

Store any leftover air fryer asparagus in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. For the best texture, reheat in the air fryer at 300 degrees F for 3-4 minutes, or until warm.

FAQs

What is the best way to trim asparagus?

You can use a knife to cut off a few ends at a time while asparagus stalks lay flat on a cutting board. Alternatively, if you hold the asparagus in your hands and bend it near the base of the stalk, the woody part of the stem should easily snap off.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

Yes. You should always preheat air fryer just like you preheat the oven. If you do not have a preheat button, just set it to the air fryer asparagus recipe temperature and preheat for a few minutes before adding the asparagus.

How much can I add asparagus in the air fryer?

You can add as much asparagus to the air fryer as you can fit into a single layer. I was able to fit 1 pound of asparagus into my 5.8 quart air fryer. If you have more asparagus to cook or have smaller air fryer, air fry it in batches.

What is the best oil to use in the air fryer?

I recommend using oil with a high smoke point such as coconut oil, avocado oil, or vegetable oil. I also often use extra virgin olive oil (with a smoke point of 375 F) for recipes up to 400 F and have had no issues so far.

Avoid aerosol cooking spray like non-stick Pam spray as it wears away the non-stick coating in your air fryer basket. Instead, using an oil mister is best.

Can I reheat cooked asparagus in air fryer?

Yes. Reheat cooked asparagus in air fryer at 300 degrees F for 3-4 minutes or until warm.

How to Cook Frozen Chicken Breast in Air Fryer

Here is a quick step-by-step summary how to make frozen chicken breasts in air fryer. There is full recipe card below.

I use a large Cosori air fryer. All air fryers cook differently, be sure to carefully read each recipe before cooking.

Person showing step by step how to make frozen chicken breasts in air fryer.
  • Preheat the air fryer and prep chicken: Preheat to 360 degrees F for five minutes. Add the frozen chicken breasts to a large bowl and drizzle with oil. Using your hands, rub until all chicken breasts are evenly coated.
  • Season chicken breasts: Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
  • Air fry frozen chicken breast: Spray the basket of the air fryer with cooking spray. Place chicken breasts in a single layer leaving a little space between each breast. Cook the chicken for 15 minutes, more if chicken is thicker. No need to flip them or shake the basket.
  • Check the temperature: Open the air fryer basket and insert an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken breast, make sure it has reached an internal temperature of at least 150 degrees F.
  • Rest and serve: Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes. Insert meat thermometer again to make sure it reads a minimum of 165 degrees F. Your quick dinner is ready to serve!

How Long to Cook Frozen Chicken Breast in Air Fryer?

Cooking air fryer frozen chicken breasts in air fryer takes a few minutes more than cooking fresh chicken breasts.

How long to cook frozen chicken breast in air fryer depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts, and will take up to 30 minutes. I used chicken breasts that were quite small, around 1-inch thick, so they needed 15 minutes.

  • 1/2 inch thick – about 10 minutes
  • 1 inch thick – about 15 minutes
  • 1 1/2 inches thick – about 20-22 minutes
  • 2 inches inches thick – about 28–30 minutes

I highly recommend using an internal-read thermometer. This way you can know exactly when it’s cooked to the minimum safe temperature, as per food safety website, of 165 degrees F.

Make sure to check each chicken breast in the center of the thickest part.

Tips for Best Results

The air fryer does a wonderful job turning frozen food into a delightful, healthy meal. Here are some tried and true tips for frozen chicken breast in air fryer.

  • Use breasts of similar size: Try to use smaller, similar sized breasts to ensure even cooking in less time. If the chicken breasts are different sizes, the smaller pieces may start to get dry before the bigger pieces are cooked.
  • Do not stack: The hot air needs to circulate around the chicken to cook effectively. Overlapping or stacking is not recommended when air frying chicken.
  • Make sure chicken pieces are separated: If your frozen chicken breasts are stuck together, run them under cold water for about 5 minutes. Carefully pry apart using a fork or knife.
  • Let chicken rest: Once cooked, transfer the air fried chicken to a large plate, cover with aluminum foil and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to settle and redistribute.
  • Don’t skip the oil: The oil keeps the spice coating on the chicken breast and forms a delicious crust.
  • Use your hands to rub each breast in oil: This is the best practice to evenly coat the chicken breast, and helps the seasonings stick to them.

Seasoning

You can customize this easy recipe using your favorite chicken seasonings, the possibilities are endless!

  • You can also use all purpose seasoning. A wonderful mix of herbs and spices that adds a lot of flavor.
  • Salt and pepper for an easy, three-ingredient entrée.
  • Add garlic powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika for a Mexican-inspired dish.
  • Season with Cajun if you want to add some heat.

This Air Fryer Turkey Breast has juicy, tender meat and crispy golden skin. It is super easy to make and is perfect for a smaller holiday crowd!

If you are like our family and have no need cooking an entire turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas, I got your back. Try my juicy boneless turkey breast roast, this turkey breast in an Instant Pot, or a bone in turkey breast.

Sliced air fryer turkey breast on a cutting board with a knife.

Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense to cook a whole turkey. Air fryer turkey breast is hands down the easiest way to get roasted turkey on holiday table when serving a smaller crowd.

If you have ever wondered whether you need to sacrifice moist turkey meat for that crispy skin when using the air fryer method, the answer is a hard no!

We sure do love our oven baked turkey legs for their dark meat and crispy skin. Served with cauliflower stuffing or my easy Instant Pot baked potatoes, and healthier cranberry sauce. My mouth is watering a I type this!

But air frying turkey breast is our second favorite! Plus it has perfectly crispy skin without the oven or a broiler.

Ingredients and Notes

Dried rosemary, dried oregano, garlic, butter, smoked paprika, salt, pepper and boneless turkey breast roast.

For this super easy air fryer turkey breast recipe you will need a turkey breast and a few basic ingredients blended into a compound butter.

Although many grocery stores carry various turkey parts only seasonally, you should be able to find Jenni O and Butterball turkey breast year round. Also be sure to look in the freezer section.

  • Turkey breast: You can use boneless turkey breast or bone-in turkey breast with a slight cooking time adjustment as noted below. Also, be sure to keep the skin on for maximum flavor and crispy skin.
  • Butter: I use salted butter but you can also use unsalted butter. Frankly, salted butter tastes better and you might have to season turkey breast more if using unsalted butter.
  • Garlic cloves: If you don’t have fresh garlic on hand, substitute with garlic powder. While you’re at it, toss in some onion powder as well.
  • Herbs: I use staple dried rosemary and oregano. You can use fresh rosemary and fresh oregano instead, as well as adding some sage or thyme. Add your favorite poultry seasoning or try my turkey breast dry rub full of savory spices, smokiness and sweetness.
  • Salt and pepper: The usual dynamic duo of seasoning to bring out the flavors of the other ingredients and add its own.
  • Smoked paprika: This is an optional spice you can add if you enjoy that bit of smoky flavor to your meat.

How to Cook a Turkey Breast in Air Fryer

Wondering how to cook a juicy turkey breast in the air fryer while making the meat flavorful and skin crispy? My air fryer method is the best way to cook it in fraction of the time while saving precious oven space.

  • Prep: Make butter mixture in a small bowl by adding the cubes of butter, dried herbs, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mash together with a fork until well combined. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F.
  • Coat the turkey breast: Sometimes turkey breast will come wrapped in a mesh. Cut it off with scissors and discard. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Use your hands and coat all sides of the turkey breast with herb butter. Get under the skin as well.
  • Air fry turkey breast: Place the turkey breast skin or bone side down into the bottom of the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes. Flip it over and continue air frying for another 10 minutes.
  • Check for doneness: Insert instant read thermometer into the thickest part of the breast. As per USDA guidelines, it’s ready when it has an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. This temperature will rise as the turkey settles as seen on my thermometer below.
  • Remove and let rest: Transfer the turkey to a tray or cutting board and tent with aluminum foil. Let it sit for 10 minutes, the juices will redistribute as turkey rests.
  • Slice and serve: Using a sharp knife, slice as thin or as thick as desired. Serve warm with your favorite side dishes.

How Long to Cook Turkey Breast in Air Fryer?

Here is a table for your quick reference how long to cook a turkey breast in air fryer depending on its weight.

Of course, every air fryer is different and even turkey breast is different, so you always want to use a meat thermometer for the most accurate reading.

If you have a large 5.8 quart air fryer like mine, the maximum turkey breast size you want to use is 4 pounds.

  • 2 lbs turkey breast: Boneless breast – 12 minutes per pound, bone-in breast – 15 minutes per pound.
  • 3 lbs turkey breast: Boneless breast – 15 minutes per pound, bone-in breast – 18 minutes per pound.
  • 4 lbs turkey breast: Boneless breast – 18 minutes per pound, bone-in breast – 21 minutes per pound.

Tips for Best Results

  • Make sure it fits: I used a 2.5 pounds turkey breast and it fit in my large 5.8-quart Cosori air fryer. I could fit up to 4-5 lbs. Buy turkey breast depending on the size of your air fryer, to make sure you can close it and cook.
  • Cook time: Size of the turkey breast and whether there’s a bone or not, will determine the precise time to cook it. Please refer to cooking timetable above. The only accurate way to check if it’s done is to use a kitchen thermometer.
  • No excess moisture: Be sure to pat dry with paper towels before seasoning. Any added moisture will hinder the crispiness of the turkey skin.
  • Ensuring juicy meat: Allowing cooked turkey to sit for a while before slicing into it, will help the juices settle and keep them from running out and drying out the turkey.

How to Carve a Turkey Breast

Sliced cooked turkey breast on a cutting board with a knife.

Part of the convenience of an air fried turkey breast and not the whole bird is not having to figure out how to actually carve the thing! Carving a turkey breast is super easy, and as you can imagine, much like cutting a chicken breast.

  • Using a sharp chef’s knife will help you get nice thin slices.
  • Place the breast on a cutting board. It helps to use a 2 prong meat fork to sturdy it with one hand while you slice with the other.
  • Boneless turkey breast: Starting at one end, cut against the grain finishing down the other end of the breast.
  • Bone-in-turkey breast: Start on one side of the breast from the narrowest tip, slicing diagonally across the grain and as close to the breast bone as possible. Turn to the other side and repeat.

What to Serve with Turkey Breast?

You are probably wondering how do you make the gravy?! I have this turkey gravy without the drippings which is perfect when cooking a lean turkey breast.

How to Store, Reheat and Freeze

Make ahead: If you’re making this easy recipe for the holidays, save yourself some time and season the turkey breast, cover, and refrigerate it up to 24 hours in advance. Before you add it to the air fryer, bring it to room temperature.

Store: Any leftover turkey breast can be stored in an airtight container for a week. Keep it whole or slice it first, it’s up to you. Cold turkey straight out of the fridge is so good!

Freeze: Freeze cooked turkey in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight.

Reheat: To prevent white meat from drying out, I recommend to reheat this tender meat in a microwave or back in the air fryer. Just follow my easy instructions for warming up chicken in air fryer.

FAQs

Can you cook a frozen turkey breast?

I don’t recommend it. You should really try and thaw turkey breast first. But if you are going to use a frozen turkey breast, get one that already comes seasoned. Otherwise, you won’t be able to season a plain turkey breast. Foil wrap it and cook 2 pounds breast for 45 minutes, then cook for another 15-30 minutes.

Can I air fryer turkey tenderloin?

Yes. Cook 2 lbs tenderloin for a total of 25 minutes, flipping once.

Can I use boneless skinless turkey breast?

Yes. You can make it the same way I make my air fryer chicken breast. Skinless!

How much turkey breast do I need per person?

A general rule of thumb is to aim for 1/2 lb of turkey meat per person with having a little extra for bigger appetites. Just in case someone wants extra or just to have leftovers to make turkey noodle soup or turkey tetrazzini.

Do I need to remove the netting off turkey crown before cooking?

Yes and no. It’s not necessary as it is meant to withstand heat and won’t burn. But I prefer to remove mine so I can get the butter underneath the skin as well as on top for maximum flavor.

If you choose to leave it on, remove it with scissors gently after cooking. Sometimes some of the meat and skin can get stuck to it.

Air fryer is amazing not only for cooking our food but also reheating it too!

Three cooked chicken breasts in air fryer basket.

Have you ever wondered if you can reheat chicken breasts in air fryer without drying them out?! The answer is “yes” and it’s actually the best way!

And air fryer is perfect for reheating and making almost any kind food crispy, warm or cheesy again. Think pizza, croissant, steak, roasted vegetables and especially chicken breast.

Lean meat like chicken breast or turkey breast can be tricky to reheat because it can easily dry out. Not with an air fryer!

Air fryer is basically a mini convection oven, where hot air circulates evenly around the chicken breast within short amount of time, reheating it without drying it out.

What Chicken Breast Recipes Can You Reheat?

You can reheat any type of cooked chicken breast in the air fryer! Not only the one you cooked in air fryer in the first place. Recipes like:

How to Reheat Chicken Breast in Air Fryer

Person showing cooked chicken in air fryer and internal read thermometer reading 165 degrees F.

Here is how to reheat chicken breasts in air fryer and keeping them moist and tender rather than dry and rubbery. There is also full recipe card below for quick reference and printing.

Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F. It takes 4 minutes with my large basket air fryer.

You do not want to place your cooked meat into cold air fryer because cooking time will be longer and it will have more chances of drying out.

Place leftover chicken breasts in the air fryer basket. No need to spray the basket or breasts with cooking spray. It is important though to arrange them in a single layer and not stacked on top of each other.

Then cook for about 5 minutes until warmed thoroughly.

Check if your chicken breast is warm enough. Just insert an internal read thermometer into the center of the chicken breast and your food is warm when it reads 165 degrees F. Once again, it’s the magic number with proteins.

Another nice thing about reheating in a small appliance versus big oven is that you can always open the basket and check on the meat.

Remove from the air fryer and enjoy!

Air Fryer Tip

I have this large Cosori air fryer. Its square basket allows me to cook or reheat 3 to 4 chicken breasts at a time for our family of four.

How Long to Reheat Chicken Breast in Air Fryer?

Reheating time depends mostly on the size of your chicken breasts and type of air fryer you own. Small basket air fryer may take less time to preheat and reheat the meat versus the air fryer with a large basket like mine.

Here is a general guideline:

  • Small-medium cooked chicken breasts – 4-5 minutes.
  • Large-extra large cooked chicken breasts – 5-6 minutes.

The rule of thumb is to open the basket and check on the meat at 4 minute mark.

Helpful Tips

  • Add the sauce: Coating the outside is also a great way to lock in the moisture inside. Brush your favorite low sugar barbecue sauce after first 3 minutes of cooking time. It will not only keep the chicken breast juicy but also add extra flavor too.
  • Don’t overlap the food: While it might be tempting to reheat a large amount of chicken leftovers at same time, let’s say like chicken wings, try not to do that. For best results, it is important to allow hot air to circulate in the basket of air fryer to reheat tender chicken evenly.
  • Don’t cover it or add liquid: While it is recommended to add a splash of water or cover with aluminum foil when reheating chicken in the oven or microwave, it is not necessary in the air fryer.
  • Bone-in vs. boneless chicken breasts: Air frying time is the same. Since they are already cooked and the bone is quite thin, reheating time is the same for either boneless chicken breasts or bone-in chicken breasts.
  • Crispy skin chicken breasts: If you are reheating skin-on chicken breasts, you can cook it for 1-2 minutes longer to crisp up that skin. Skin on chicken breasts have that flexibility since chicken skin acts like “a blanket”.

What to Serve with Reheated Chicken Breasts

FAQs

Do I need to bring leftover chicken breast to room temperature before reheating?

No, you do not have to allow cooked chicken to come to room temperature but rather it’s important to preheat the air fryer.

Can I reheat chicken breast at 400 degrees Fahrenheit?

While it’s better to reheat thinner foods at 400 degrees F, I recommend to reheat thicker food like chicken breasts at 350 degrees. So it will have enough time to warm through without burning on the outside and staying cold inside.

Do I have to flip it halfway?

While you can do it if you wish, it is not necessary. There is actually inner basket with small openings that is sitting in the main basket of the air fryer, allowing the air to circulate on the top and on the bottom of food.

Can I reheat sliced cooked chicken breast?

Yes. Cook time will be 2-3 minutes. I would check on cubed chicken after 2 minutes and on sliced meat after 3 minutes.

Can I use Keep Warm for reheating?

I do not recommend it. It runs at 160-170 degrees F, it will take about 12 minutes for your chicken breast to warm through, and will likely dry it out.

Cooking spaghetti squash in air fryer takes about 30 minutes at 360 degrees F. Keep in mind that if your air fryer is smaller, your squash my cook quicker. Best way is to start checking at 15 minutes for doneness.

How to tell when spaghetti squash is done?

Air fryer spaghetti squash is done when its flesh can be easily separated with a fork. Also its skin looks glossy and more bright orange and you can easily pierce it with a knife.

What if I don’t have an air fryer?

Not to worry, you can also bake spaghetti squash in the oven. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F, cut and clean your squash halves, then season as per recipe. Place cut side down and bake for 40 minutes or until flesh is fork tender.

What to put on spaghetti squash?

Once you seperate the long strands, try to add different sauce, toppings or fillings to it. Saute onions, mushrooms and bell peppers and mix with it. Or mix with canned black beans and corn, top with guacamole and crushed tortilla chips for a taco bowl.

Swap regular spaghetti for these “noodles” with jarred marinara sauce, sprinkle with mozzarella and air fry until cheese has melted or try homemade meat sauce! Make a spaghetti squash casserole.

Or serve like pictured, with Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper air fried until cheese has melted and topped with fresh herbs like basil.

Air fryer buffalo cauliflower is a savory appetizer that doubles as an anytime snack! They’re a delicious meatless alternative to the ever so popular buffalo wings but way healthier!

Ready in under 30 minutes, buffalo cauliflower in air fryer is easy, loaded with spicy flavor, and a has a nice outer crisp without any deep frying.

Serve with a cool creamy dip and it is ready to add to your game day parties, holiday parties, or movie nights!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Healthy: Cauliflower bites may look like meat but they’re actually a nutritious low carb vegetable loaded with vitamins and minerals.
  • Easy: Just a handful of ingredients and less than 30 minutes is needed.
  • Vegetarian: A great vegetarian option among traditional appetizers like air fryer chicken wings on the tray!
  • Tons of flavor: Can’t go wrong with a classic buffalo sauce!

Ingredients Needed

Hot sauce, smoked paprika, butter, flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cauliflower florets.

Only 10 ingredients for the best air fryer buffalo cauliflower recipe and that includes the creamy dip!

  • Cauliflower: You’ll need one large head cut into bite sized florets. Look for white cauliflower, with no brown or black spots, the leaves are not wilted, and it should have a bit of weight to it.
  • Butter and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce: On its own Frank’s is a delicious hot sauce, but it’s not until you add butter to it that it becomes a mouthwatering Buffalo sauce.
  • Flour and cornstarch: They both act as a coating to give the florets a crispy exterior and a nice crunch. For gluten free use 1:1 gluten free all purpose flour or almond flour. Arrowroot powder can be used in place of cornstarch.
  • Seasoning: Garlic powder, smoked or regular paprika, and salt. Buffalo sauce has a ton of flavor, so not much extra is needed. These few added seasonings are just perfect.
  • Cooking spray: Needed for non-stick but that’s also how the air fryer manages to get a perfect crisp. Just a little cooking spray to get a nice golden finish. I use Misto!
  • Blue cheese dressing: An easy way to make a healthy blue cheese dip is to mix blue cheese and yogurt. A classic pairing with Buffalo sauce.

How to Make Air Fryer Buffalo Cauliflower

Air fryers are the perfect vehicle for fast and easy cooking! Just prep, coat with sauce and your air fryer buffalo cauliflower wings are ready to be air fried.

Make and add the buffalo sauce: In a small bowl, combine Frank’s red hot sauce with the melted butter. Stir and pour the mixture over the cauliflower. Use tongs to toss and coat evenly.

Cornstarch and seasonings sprinkled over buffalo sauce coated cauliflower in a bowl.

Coat the cauliflower: In another small bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, and seasonings. Give it a good stir.

Take a quarter of the dry mix and sprinkle it over the cauliflower, again using tongs to toss and coat.

Repeat with the remaining flour mixture, one quarter at a time, until the flour mixture runs out.

Uncooked and prepped cauliflower in air fryer basket.

Air fry the buffalo cauliflower: Spray the air fryer basket generously with cooking spray. Add florets in a single layer, leaving enough room in between for even cooking. Air fry for 12 minutes.

Prepare dressing while buffalo cauliflower in air fryer is roasting.

Don’t overcrowd the basket! Depending on the size of your air fryer you may find you need to work in batches.

Creamy Dips to Pair with Buffalo Cauliflower

The sky is the limit when it comes to dips for air fryer buffalo cauliflower bites but I have my three favorites:

  • Blue cheese dressing: It is so easy to make your own by combining yogurt, blue cheese, salt and pepper to taste. Please see recipe card below. My favorite healthier store-bought version is Bolthouse chunky blue cheese yogurt dip.
  • Healthy veggie dip: I usually make my own Greek yogurt veggie dip with yogurt, garlic powder and dill because these ingredients are pantry staples in my kitchen.
  • Ranch dressing: I have healthy ranch recipe and it’s a great option. My favorite store-bought is Litehouse organic ranch. It has clean ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs 1 large head of cauliflower core removed & cut into florets
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/2 cup red hot sauce like Frank’s
  • 1/4 cup white or whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika smoked or regular

They are tender in the middle and wonderfully crisp and caramelized on the outside!

Sweet potato fries are a healthy way to eat more vegetables!

They contain impressive levels of beta-carotene (made into vitamin A), vitamin C, potassium, copper, and other vitamins and minerals.

More so, they’re packed with fiber and antioxidants and are lower GI than white potatoes. These sweet potato fries air fryer are also gluten free, vegetarian and vegan!

Ingredients Needed

Sweet potatoes, oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and smoked paprika.

These healthy air fryer sweet potato fries are sweet, salty, savory, and utterly delicious!

  • Sweet potatoes: You’ll need medium sweet potatoes around the same size. Make sure they aren’t too long, so they easily fit in your air fryer basket.
  • Oil: I use extra virgin olive oil, though avocado oil and other neutral cooking oils will also work.
  • Seasonings: I use a basic seasoning made with garlic powder, paprika, salt and black pepper.

How to Cut Sweet Potato Fries

If you have a fry cutter, feel free to use that! If you do not have those kitchen tools, here are the easy directions to cut your homemade sweet potato fries for the air fryer.

Three sweet potatoes on cutting board with ends sliced off.

First, make sure to choose medium-sized sweet potatoes that are more thin and even in diameter and size than shorter ones. However, also make sure they aren’t too long for your air fryer. You want them to be a good fry size.

Then, cut off the ends and slice it in half lengthwise. Make sure to use a long, sharp knife.

Sweet potato cut into 1/4 inch sticks on cutting board.

Place each half, cut side against the cutting board, and slice into quarters. You can then chop those into 1/4-inch pieces.

How to Cook Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Unlike baked versions, there’s no need to pre-soak, use cornstarch, bake for 40+ minutes, rotating pans and carefully flipping each fry.

Air fryer sweet potatoes fries are crispy in only 14 minutes thanks to convection heating.

Prepare the sweet potato: Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F.

Then, scrub the sweet potatoes clean and peel them if preferred. I choose not to, for extra fiber and nutrients! Chop into 1/4-inch fries as per method above.

Raw sweet potato fries in a bowl with tongs and seasonings.

Season the fries: Transfer the sweet potato to a large mixing bowl with the oil and toss with tongs to coat.

Then add all the seasonings and toss once more until well distributed.

Uncooked sweet potato fries in the basket of air fryer.

Air fry: Transfer the sweet potato to your air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches, if necessary.

I did 2 batches in my large Cosori air fryer, with a bit of space in between. Air fry for 14 minutes.

Cooked fries in the air fryer basket.

Shake halfway then serve: Shake once halfway through cooking time. Then, remove basket from the air fryer and serve.

Tips for Best Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer

  • Preheat the air fryer: This is important to yield the crispiest air fried sweet potato fries.
  • Slice the fries evenly: That way, they’ll cook evenly too.
  • Cook in batches: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer at all costs, or else you’ll end up with soggy, limp fries. The fries should be in a single layer, with space in between.
  • When to add the seasonings: Add dry powdered seasonings at the beginning of the cooking process. For fresh herbs, you may prefer to add them in the last 5 minutes to avoid burning them.
  • Shake basket or flip fries halfway through cooking time: For best crispy results!

What Goes Well With These Fries?

You can enjoy these healthy, crispy air fryer fries as an appetizer, snack, or side to an almost endless list of foods and dips. Of course traditional ketchup is a given!

Meal Prep and Storage

Make ahead: You can wash, chop, and even season the raw sweet potatoes up to 8 hours in advance or 2 days, if stored in a large container of water. Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to cook.

Storing: This crispy sweet potato fries recipe is definitely best enjoyed immediately for the crispest results.

However, you can store any leftovers in an airtight container for between 3-4 days in the refrigerator.

Reheat: Add the fries back to your air fryer and reheat for 1-2 minutes at 400 degrees F, until heated through. Add more time for crispier fries.

FAQs

What type of oil is best to use?

You can use any neutral cooking oil, though I prefer to use options that contain heart healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil. And I have never had issues with my olive oil smoking.

Can I make these oil free?

Technically, yes. Though they won’t become as crispy and taste a bit dry but will still taste good. To reduce but not eliminate oil entirely, you could spray them lightly with cooking spray.

How long should I cook sweet potato fries in an air fryer?

While this could slightly vary due to the air fryer you have, I recommend starting with 14 minutes. At the halfway point, check and cook longer, if necessary.

Can I make these if I don’t have an air fryer?

You can also bake them in the oven. To do so, toss the sweet potato fries in a little cornstarch too, when seasoning. Then, spread them in a single layer and cook at 425 degrees F for 30-40 minutes, flipping halfway. Allow to rest for 5 minutes after to further crisp up.

How to cook frozen sweet potato chips in the air fryer?

Follow this recipe but they will need approximately 5 extra minutes.

Easy Air Fryer Cauliflower tastes roasted but is ready in less than 20 minutes! With a crispy seasoned outer texture this is the perfect cauliflower side dish to any meal.

Air fryer cauliflower in the basket garnished with fresh herbs.

Cauliflower versatility never ceases to amaze me! I’ve taught you how to make cauliflower rice and how to make cauliflower pizza crust, and now this air fryer cauliflower recipe.

If you are one of those people who buys a head of cauliflower and doesn’t know what to do with it, this air fryer cauliflower recipe is for you!

It’s simply made with a bit of oil, some garlic powder, paprika, a squirt of lemon juice, and Parmesan cheese.

There is so much flavor in this crispy tender air fryer side and it pairs well with all kinds of other ingredients!

Don’t have an air fryer yet? No problem! Make this roasted cauliflower with parmesan cheese in the oven instead!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Cauliflower, lemon, parmesan cheese, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper, olive oil.

Cauliflower is a nutritional powerhouse! It provides plenty of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, plus this recipe is gluten free and keto friendly.

  • Cauliflower: You’ll need 2 lbs of cauliflower, which is the size of a medium head.
  • Olive oil: Extra virgin olive oil helps with nonstick action and also helps keep the seasoning sticking to the florets.
  • Lemon juice: A lovely tart, vibrant flavor that wakes up everything!
  • Cauliflower seasoning mix: Garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper are a simple combination of seasonings that gives flavor and colour. For a hint of smokiness, use smoked paprika.
  • Parmesan: Freshly grated parmesan cheese from a block! Gives it that extra crispy exterior with a lovely sharp cheese flavor.

How to Cut Cauliflower

This is a recap of my step by step photo tutorial on how to cut cauliflower.

Head of cauliflower with removed leaves on a cutting board with a knife.

First, wash your cauliflower head by running it under water. Remove the leaves from around the stem.

Place cauliflower head on a cutting board, stem side down. Using a sharp knife, cut the cauliflower down the middle. Now you should have two identical halves.

Cut cauliflower into four quarters on a cutting board with a knife.

Lay one half of the cauliflower down on the board, exposing the inside of the stem and core. Cut it right out of the middle, loosening the little florets. Repeat with the other half. Cut any larger florets into smaller pieces.

How to Air Fry Cauliflower

This super easy air fryer cauliflower recipe is perfect for a weeknight side dish ideas plus it takes up no space in the oven or stovetop.

Cauliflower florets in bowl with a spoon.

Prep: Preheat the air fryer to 400F degrees, grab a large bowl, and make sure your florets are all ready to go.

Coat the florets: Add the cauliflower to the bowl and drizzle it with oil and lemon juice. Give it a toss to coat evenly.

Cauliflower florets in a bowl with spices.

Season cauliflower: Sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika (or regular), salt, and pepper. Toss once more to make sure everything is coated evenly.

Raw seasoned cauliflower florets in air fryer basket.

To the air fryer they go: Place cauliflower from the bowl into the air fryer basket. Make sure they’re in a single layer without overcrowding.

Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top of browned cauliflower florets in air fryer.

Cook: Air fry for 14 minutes, pausing to shake once or twice. At the 12 minute time mark, sprinkle with the parmesan cheese. Continue air frying until nice and crispy!

Variations

This is one of the easiest cauliflower recipes to make. All that is required are heads of cauliflower cooked in batches for larger crowds, or just one for you and your family. Other than that, you can use whatever seasoning you like.

  • Italian seasoning: Pairs so well with the Parmesan cheese.
  • Chili lime: Swap the lemon for lime and the paprika for chili powder.
  • Curry: Use up to a teaspoon of curry powder to season your florets.
  • Southwest: I love to use my homemade taco seasoning and swap Parmesan for cheddar.
  • Buffalo: A popular flavor, you’ll want to follow my air fryer buffalo cauliflower directions.

Recipe Tips

  • For crispy results, you need the oil, so don’t try and skip it! Some people prefer to go without or even give it a little spray beforehand, which you can also do, but resulting in a less crispy bite.
  • Work in batches. You want an even single layer spread out in the basket, but also leaving enough room for the air to circulate and the heat to evenly distribute throughout. If not, you’ll end up with soggy air fryer cauliflower. I use a large 5.8 quart Cosori air fryer for reference.
  • Batches 2 and 3. Keep in mind the remaining batches will cook faster because the air fryer will be hotter. Check on them every so often.
  • Uniform sizes. When cutting your cauliflower, try and make the florets even sizes. This is so that they cook evenly and the smaller ones don’t burn while they wait for the larger ones to catch up.
Cooked cauliflower in basket of air fryer.

Serving Suggestions

This air fryer cauliflower is one of our favorite healthy sides! It’s versatile and can be paired with just about anything.

Storage Instructions

Storing: Keep any leftover cooked cauliflower in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator.

Reheating: Pop them back in the air fryer at 300F degrees for 3-4 minutes until warm and crispy again.

Make them ahead. Season the florets as directed and keep them covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Toss them in the air fry when you’re ready!

FAQs

Can I make oil free air fryer cauliflower?

You can make this recipe using no oil. The oil is what gives it the crispy texture, but if you’re fine without it, feel free to omit the oil. You may need to use parchment paper or give the bottom of the basket a little spray.

Can I use frozen cauliflower florets?

Yes. You will want to make sure they’re completely thawed first, though. If not, you’ll just end up with soggy cauliflower. And might have to cook a few minutes longer, just keep an eye on it.

Why is my cauliflower soggy vs. crispy?

This is usually due to overcrowding, not using any oil, or not completely thawing frozen cauliflower florets.

Are cauliflower leaves and stems edible?

Yes, this is a great no waste option! Feel free to air fry the leaves and save the stems for stir fry or soups.
